Erica Peake of Strongsville is helping people get their lives decluttered and organized. She is the owner of OCD Solutions LLC, a professional organizing service. With only nine months in business, she said what once was just a hobby has now taken off as a successful local business venture and she couldn’t be happier.

“I’ve always loved organizing, but did it as a hobby,” she said. “But you should do the thing that comes to you most naturally.”

After pouring concrete for nine years, Erica decided that her true passion was helping other people declutter their spaces and create an environment that was more conducive to better mental health.

“People don’t realize how tied clutter is to mental health,” she said. “It affects your whole day. There’s so much more to it than just cleaning and organizing.”

Understanding that letting go of things can be difficult and emotional, Erica said her job is so much more than just improving someone’s space. It’s a very personal experience.

“You have to have a compassionate heart, but you also have to have a firmness to get people where they need to be,” she said. “We hold onto things because we think the memory is tied to the item but it’s not. The memory is inside of you.”

She has already hired two people to help her with her clients, but she said that her branded system and way of compassionately working with her clients is very important to her so finding the right team members is crucial. And because the process for the client is so personal, she does consultations with each client before a job begins.

“People are vulnerable with you, this is their personal stuff,” she said. “So we help you be brave with yourself in the mirror. Stuff becomes suffocating, but it doesn’t have to be like that.”

Erica said it’s hard for clients to take that first step sometimes but in the end it’s worth it and completely doable and manageable.

“Organization doesn’t have to be complicated,” she said. “You just have to have the right system and that’s different for everyone. But it’s not about being picture perfect all the time. It’a about being able to tidy up your space and making sure everything has a place. It’s about maintenance.”

Erica is already booked into February but if you’re looking for someone to help you let go of things, declutter your space and create a system of organization that improves your quality of life, check her out on Facebook at OCD Home Solutions LLC, on Instagram at @ocdhomesolutions, or at:
