Sometimes necessity really is the mother of invention, but it was a father of two rambunctious twins that gave us Xtreme Ninja Warrior in North Royalton. Nelson Schorr is a self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneur.” But he’s also a problem solver, and local families are thanking him. When his twin boy and girl needed to burn off energy, he built them a ninja warrior course.
“They were climbing up our walls,” he said. That was when he saw a business opportunity. He opened his first Xtreme Ninja Warrior course in Hinckley in 2016, which he built himself from raw materials. Then he moved it briefly to Brunswick and now he is located in North Royalton with an impressive upgrade in equipment that now looks more like the actual television show course.
They offer kids parties, open play times, and classes. Their Kids Night Out is a deal for parents too. For just $12 per kid, they get two and half hours of play time that includes the ninja course, plus gaga ball and dodge ball. And for an extra $6, they offer dinner, too: two slices of pizza, chips and a drink, so you don’t even have to cook. Kids Night Out is every Saturday night.
“We try to keep it affordable,” he said. And you can drop your kids off, too. He supplies qualified staff to keep the kids safe while they play.
“I like to bet on myself,” he said. “And I like to create family-friendly businesses.” Nelson said, being a dad, he gets it. His kids have all been involved in traditional sports and have lots of energy. But like so many other families, he struggles with the attraction of screens. Xtreme Ninja Warrior gets kids away from screens and allows them to use their brains to solve problems while getting exercise and having fun.
Nelson recently purchased a business upgrade, too. A mobile course that is 35 feet long and opens up to 25 feet wide can show up at your home or event for parties, fundraisers and more.
They are also offering a summer camp and registration is now open. It will run from Monday June 1st to Friday August 14th with full day and half day options.
